GETTING YOUR COMMITTEE TO WORK SO YOUR BOOK CAN SELL

Many FRP publishers are community organizations who have committees in charge of cookbook sales. Over and over again, we have seen that the committees who are organized, focused and motivated sell more books.  Is your committee operating as smoothly as possible? Click here for some tips for having a successful, happy, and productive cookbook committee.

& Distribution Sales

Cabbage was just okay until I found this recipe.  Not only is it tasty, it is unique and fun to make.  Now that it’s grilling time again....give it a try!

Grilled Cabbage

1 head of cabbage

Garlic powder (to taste)

Salt and pepper (to taste)

Cayenne pepper (to taste)

2 tablespoons butter

1/2 (12-ounce) can light beer

Cut out the core of the cabbage, making a lid with the core.  Season the center of the cabbage with garlic powder, salt, black pepper and cayenne pepper.  Add the butter to the center.  Pour the beer into the center and replace the core lid.  Wrap completely in several layers of foil and place on a grill rack.  Grill over medium heat for 1 hour.

Author Betty Sims' books, Southern Scrumptious and Southern Scrumptious Entertains are being featured in the Florence, Alabama magazine, NOALA, in April along with her new products, Sweet Garlic Pickles, Raspberry Brownies, Macadamia Brownies, and Cheese Pecan Biscuits.  The products may be picked up at Sweet Basil's, a very popular eatery in Florence. Betty will also join Sister Schubert in jointly teaching a cooking class at Kitchenique in Destin, Fl. on April 17th followed by a book signing. In July,  she will present a cooking demonstration at Decatur's (Alabama) library featuring a recipe from a special reading program which is a citywide event followed by a book signing.

Check out the March issue of Southern Living – go straight to page 100 for a scrumptious taste of Charleston and what better reference than the Lowcountry bible itself, Charleston Receipts ! “Long before chefs made Lowcountry food famous, Charlestonians-were eating high on the hog.” A very exciting article that has sent sales through the roof - notice the number one top seller for The Cookbook Marketplace.

Recipes Worth Sharing from FRP Publishing was reviewed on the Sandra Lee’s Cooking Blog (sandychatter.wordpress.com).  A long time fan of community cookbooks, another recent post by Sandy discussed Junior League cookbooks and mentioned the following titles as some of her favorites: Applehood & Motherpie from the Junior League of Rochester, NY, West of the Rockies from the Junior League of Grand Junction, Soupcon II from the Junior League of Chicago, The Gasparilla Cookbook from the Junior League of Tampa, and Atlanta Cooknotes from the Junior League of Atlanta.

Are you an FRP publisher with good news to share about your cookbook? We want to hear about any media coverage, successful events, or goals reached. Please send your news to marketing@frpbooks.com and we will put it in the next issue of Table Talk.
