Awards: Why Enter?

Winning isn't everything, but an award recognized in the marketplace can certainly do wonders and work magic with the morale of editors, publishers, your membership, your customers, and your retail accounts.

The FRP staff encourages its publishers to enter the various award contests that are available annually based upon qualifications, deadline requirements, contest criteria, copyright year or publication date, and other factors that make the book eligible for entry. Here are 3 points to consider as you think about awards and ponder the question of "Why should we enter?"

It is no wonder that The Cookbook Marketplace constantly has had requests for wine and food pairing cookbooks. Over the last few decades, Americans have begun a love affair with wine. Bolstered by recent heath findings that wine with food can have extensive health benefits, wine consumption in the United States continues to climb. According to a study reported in the Wall Street Journal, by 2008 the United States will be the world's largest consumer of wine. So you can only imagine our excitement when Mary Evely, author of The Vintner's Table Cookbook, approached FRP with some big ideas to update her cookbook and proposed that FRP publish this Julia Child Cookbook Award Winner!

There are many cookbooks that offer brief advice about specific wines to enjoy with recipes, but few give readers the information to develop wine pairing skills on their own. For readers who want to learn more about food and wine affinities, The Vintner's Table Cookbook has returned to print and is available at The Cookbook Marketplace website. This book makes a wonderful gift for any occasion. The Vintner's Table Cookbook is an education in wine and food. Beginners will find the book easy to use, with thorough explanations and a conversational tone, while experienced wine lovers will learn new ways to enjoy their favorite wines with an exceptionally diverse selection of dishes. This is truly a wonderful gift for any wine lover for any occasion.
