More Than Recipes

Recipes aren't the only thing that will be included in your cookbook. You will need to consider what to include in the front matter, on chapter openers, in the back matter, and on the back cover. In the next two issues of Table Talk, we'll look at what types of copy you could use in these areas of your cookbook. Click here for the full article.

Be sure to have the right systems in place to ensure a constant flow of inventory to your distributors. Lost sales due to delayed shipments should never be a factor. Always communicate with your distributors in advance if you anticipate any delays in shipments. Just as important, keep them informed of a possible increase in sales due to upcoming media exposure you are putting in place. Be sure to have sufficient inventory readily on hand at all times. If a book goes out of print, even for a short while, it can impact sales and cause your title to lose its “shelf place” with retailers, which can take a while to regain.
