Congratulations to our May winner!

Connie Wright from Madison, TN, sent us this delicious and easy grilling recipe. She'll be receiving a free cookbook of her choice from the Cookbook Marketplace!

GRILLED TURKEY ROLLS

1 package boneless skinless turkey breast, rinsed and pounded slightly thinner for rolling

salt and pepper to taste

1 package bacon (we prefer Oscar Mayer)

5 to 6 slices Land O’ Lakes Yellow American Cheese, or another easy-melting white cheese, such as provolone or mozzarella

Heat the gas or charcoal grill. Place the turkey on a cutting board and season with salt and pepper (note: you may add other spices you like, such as thyme, rosemary). Next, place a thin slice of cheese on the turkey and begin to roll up. Wrap 1 piece of bacon around the turkey and secure with a wooden pick. Repeat with the remaining turkey, bacon and cheese.

Place on the grill and cook for about 3 to 5 minutes on each side or until cooked through.

“These are delicious. Anyone who tries them cannot believe how easy they are. We usually serve with just a salad and/or fruit.” – Connie Wright

Starting next month, the Recipe of the Month contest will be replaced by Recipes Worth Sharing from FRP staff members.

The Palo Alto Women’s Auxiliary, publishers of Tastes, Tales and Traditions, has established relationships with a couple local businesses to get copies of their award-winning cookbook in more homes. Financial company Smith-Barney purchased 250 books to give as Customer Appreciation gifts. They were very pleased, as it was a low cost, high perceived value gift that also demonstrates their commitment to the community.

Also, four local Macy’s stores are buying the book from the Auxiliary and selling it in their stores. Three of the stores have the book in the house wares department and one has it in the bridal registry area. They have done well. Macy’s has also used this for their cause marketing campaign – marketing that they support the local
non-profit organizations.
