WHY PUBLISH A COOKBOOK?

What our customers say about Publishing a Cookbook

We developed a marketing piece for name recognition and company image. We wanted to provide our customers with a way to use our products through the recipes and also use it as an image piece for the company. We continue to sell the piece to our customers, and our sales reps use it as a giveaway and to show to new clients. Working with FRP was a wonderful experience, and we are extremely pleased with our return on investment.
- Linda Wallace, Red Gold Tomatoes, Inc.

My experience with FRP is something I will always remember. I have learned so much over the last year in regard to marketing a product. I also enjoyed working with a company whose employees actually had a passion for what they do. Everyone is always upbeat and positive, and that helps motivate those around you. Thanks for this valuable learning experience.
- Vicki Downing, Junior League of North Harris County, TX

FRP made this cookbook writing experience as seamless as possible. We are absolutely thrilled with the final result. It is a true tribute to our brand.
- Kendra M. Sartor, The Melting Pot Restaurants, Inc.

Their personal attention and comprehensive approach makes FRP an essential element of my team. From the professional editorial assistance to the ability to sell books nationally, FRP makes self-publishing cookbooks a viable option for cookbook authors today.

CUSTOM COOKBOOKS      back to top

It’s wonderful! I am so pleased. I can’t believe you made something so beautiful out of all our messy recipes and information.
- Carole Thomas, United States Daughters of 1812 (AL)

Our experience was excellent. We had several needs—cookbook, promote historic house and lifestyle, provide a current souvenir for visitors, record a revised vision—all were accomplished.
- Barbara Cooper, Bonnet House Alliance

FRP’s understanding of marketing, business, and our company in particular gave us the confidence that you had the processes we needed. Indexing was wonderful, and proofing was great! Overall, you have such a warm and friendly staff, very professional! A great help. We certainly wouldn’t have accomplished Our Favorite Recipes without FRP.
- Susan Britton, Vera Bradley Designs

The Junior League of Baton Rouge has always valued its relationship with FRP, but this year that trust and appreciation grew tremendously as we worked together on our fourth book. The quality of the finished product will be greatly enhanced because of the professional input we received. We look forward to continuing this great working relationship in the future.
- Martha Rome, Junior League of Baton Rouge, LA

I just received my first copy of Something to Talk About. Words fail to describe my pride and pleasure with the cookbook. You did a terrific job and I feel honored to have worked with each of you. The book's beauty is an eternal testament to your hard work. Thank you for your guidance, patience and perseverance.
- Michelle Curtis, Junior League of Lafayette, LA

"We couldn't have done it without FRP. FRP is amazing. Any question or hurdle that we had to solve, FRP was there to guide us through. It felt like we were all family, doing the work together.

The results? Wonderful, way beyond what we though it could be. We have sold more books and raised more funds than we ever dreamed we would. FRP -- They are the pros!"
- Sue North - Board of Directors PGA Senior Tour Wives / Coookbook Chairman

“Part of our mission is to give our guests a means of ‘taking the resort home with them’ after a visit, creating FRESH just seemed to be a natural extension.

Of course a good cookbook has be a lot more than just a series of recipes strung together, and even though I got to write just about every word for the interior, I don’t think I realized initially what a collaborative effort was truly involved—photographers, food stylists, editors and technical support [the good folks at FRP], marketing support, and lots more are all going to inform a successful effort.

I was amazed and definitely pleased at the finished product. The book became a finalist for a prestigious International Association of Culinary Professionals Award, something I am, also, sure would not have happened but for the efforts of all those involved.

Creating FRESH with FRP was a very educational and completely gratifying episode in my life as a chef, and one, I hope someday to repeat.”
- Terry Conlan, Executive Chef - Lake Austin Spa and Resort

FRP was a great partner and walked us through the entire process. It was wonderful to have complete access to all of the staff for assistance on any issue at any time and we are thrilled with the final product - it is already flying off the shelves!
- Karen Chamberlein, Junior League of Lake Charles

COMMUNITY CLASSICS      back to top

They (FRP) took the time to make many personal calls and develop a relationship with me, ultimately EARNING my trust and business. Throughout the process, my sales rep at FRP answered my questions and guided me to make the early choices that are resulting in a terrific finished piece. Our organization is already looking ahead to make the commitment to FRP to do a new book every year.
- Michalle Shown, The Children's Cabinet

FRP was very interested in working with us from the start. The follow-up was excellent from the beginning, and the contacts at FRP never let us get behind on our deadlines. They helped us every step of the way. There was never a time when we asked for information that we didn't get it within 24 hours—everything from beginning quotes to shipping the final product. We couldn't have asked for a better team than FRP to guide us through this process.
- Aymee Balison, Junior Service League of Green Bay, WI

COMMUNITY BOOKS      back to top

For years, the Saint Thomas Heart Institute has taught cardiac rehabilitation patients healthy eating habits through the Saint Thomas Heart Institute Heart Healthy Cooking Schools and our first cookbook, A Taste of the Good Life from the Heart of Tennessee. In 2003, we introduced our latest community book, A Taste of the Good Life from the Heart of the Mediterranean, again with the help of the staff at FRP. We consider it a privilege to not only work with a great company like FRP, but also to have the resources available to produce a wonderful product that symbolizes good healthcare, represents the Nashville community, and promotes one of the top five heart programs in the country.
- Greg Palevo, St. Thomas Hospital

FOOD PUBLICATIONS       back to top

It’s the people that make FRP so easy to work with. Besides providing efficient and talented service (and saying “yes” to every oddball request), the FRP staff is genuinely enthusiastic about our projects. Their experience gives a firm foundation to our vision.
- Mary Malouf, Central Market

MARKETING SUPPORT

What our customers say about Marketing Support    back to top

As marketing chair for the Pride of Kentucky cookbook, I found the marketing training invaluable in focusing efforts toward marketing at the retail, wholesale and distribution levels. We have overwhelmingly exceeded sales projections in the first six weeks and have already ordered 5,000 additional reprints to meet sales demand! Thanks so much for providing such professional support to make our project such a success!
- Janet H. Johnson, Kentucky Extension Services

Having been a partner in a publishing company and having previously self-published books, I knew we could outsource the services less expensively. In my present position, I also know the project would never have gotten finished without FRP. The final product, marketing support, and overall experience far exceeded my expectations.
- Carolyn Wells, Kansas City Barbeque Society

It’s seamless—from meeting with Roger (sales rep), to talking with Julee (marketing)—everyone treats us like we’re the only customers they have. It’s really unheard of today, this level of service!
- Kiffie Robbins, Junior League of Phoenix, AZ

COOKBOOK UNIVERSITY

What our customers say about Cookbook University    back to top

One of the best seminars I’ve attended … the breakout sessions were excellent. The notes provided for each breakout were simple but detailed. This seminar is a must for those planning a cookbook.
- Amy Risius, Junior League of Birmingham, MI

FRP Cookbook University was a wonderful experience that sets your organization to up to succeed. The peer to peer contact with others that are starting out with their first book, or being with the veterans of several published books was invaluable. We came home with a clear and concise road map to follow for compiling the book, handling pre-sales and overall marketing of our cookbook.
- Judy Dodd, Darien Communications, Inc.

Cookbook University exceeded my expectations! Not only were the break-out sessions information packed but it also helped to talk to other attendees to get their marketing ideas.
- Cammie Jones, Junior League of Augusta, GA

Cookbook University gives you the opportunity to learn from many knowledgeable individuals (FRP staff & instructors), who are willing to guide an organization through the multiple steps of producing a successful cookbook.
- JoAnne Jones, Junior League of Seattle, WA

I volunteered to be the JL of Albuquerque cookbook chair, hesitantly, but willingly, because I was assured by our President that I would learn everything I needed to know at the Cookbook University. She was right! I gained such knowledge on fundraising, promotion, production and marketing that we experienced a 10% increase in sales the year I was Chair! We will always send someone to this training.
- Andrea Hammond, Junior League of Albuquerque, NM

THE COOKBOOK MARKETPLACE

What our customers say about the Cookbook Marketplace    back to top

Working with FRP these past few years has been great, and my most recent experience involved The Cookbook Marketplace. I worked on a specific promotion this past fall, and not only did I experience great sales, but I was invited back to the store for a book signing. Additionally, the store buyer placed another reorder for the Take 5 books for the holidays. I realize this success was due in large part to the opportunity presented to me by the FRP distribution team.
