Amazon.com has grown over this past year to become The Cookbook Marketplace’s third-largest account!
The is fabulous news and now, more than ever, people are cooking at home to save money and driving less to save on gas. Thus, Internet sales are hitting record high, with more folks are shopping on line. This is resulting in a BOOM for on-line cookbook sales.
In order for you to make the most of this economic situation with regard to your own book sales, here are two quick and easy things you can do to move more units via Amazon.com:
1) Tell all your group members, family, friends, etc., to visit your book's page at Amazon and enter a consumer review. (Be sure to request that they give it a 5-star-rating!)
• Suggest that they mention specific recipes by name so the Amazon reader will know it’s written by someone who has actually used your cookbook.
• They can also add their own tags to enhance the search terms for the title.
• Send out an e-mail with a link directly back to your book to make it easier for them to get it done.
(The details of entering a consumer review are all self-explanatory on your Amazon book page. People will need an active Amazon account to enter a review.)
2) Send me three strong editorial reviews that your book has received.
As your vendor of record into Amazon.com, I can update that info on your behalf but you have to submit the information to me. I cannot go after the reviews on your behalf. (Please keep reading for specific instructions on how to submit these reviews.)
An editorial review can be an excerpt from an article about your book; a quote from a well-known celebrity who has used your book; quotes from a magazine article editor; even something as simple as the quotes from the back of your book is fine! Just be sure it’s a credible source and that they don’t mind your using them as such.
Editorial reviews at Amazon rank highest in the book page information, even listing before the actual book description. As such, they are much more valued by the consumer. You need to send me all three reviews at once so my time is best spent when updating your book data in Amazon. If you don’t have three, send me whatever you do have. If you don’t have any yet, then please work to get something that you can use.
Below are the requirements, which MUST be adhered to in order for me to submit your editorial Reviews into Amazon:
a. Amazon limits you to only three reviews per title, so be sure to send me your strongest top three.
b. Using Word, create one document with three separate paragraph reviews included. (Please triple space between each paragraph review so I can easily see where they begin and end in the document.)
c. Each review is limited to 3,900 characters. Use the character counter in Word, which is located where the word counter feature is, to check each paragraph review before sending it to me.
d. If you send me a review that is too long, it will be automatically truncated at Amazon (I will not have time to double-check your submissions for length).
e. I'll just do a simple copy and paste from your Word document into Amazon, so no proofing will occur on my end. Please use the Word spell checker before submitting to me.
f. Please be sure to leave out any and all formatting (bold, italic, underlines, symbols, etc.), as they all create havoc in Amazon.
g. NO ALL-CAPITAL WORDS are allowed.
h. You are not allowed to include an actual Web site address link in your reviews, but you can mention a Web site by its name.
i. Be sure to include complete credentials from the resource the review is coming from as I cannot submit without it.
j. Include all this information in a single Word document attached to an e-mail sent directly to me at apritchard@frpbooks.com.
k. In the subject line of your e-mail please enter AMAZON EDITORIAL REVIEWS so I can quickly pick those out of my inbox.
Please understand that I can only submit those that are complete and meet these specifications, so be sure to check all the above requirements before sending me your editorial reviews.
How many I get will determine how long before the information appears at Amazon. I have recently submitted some reviews, and it took only three days to appear from the time I entered them into their system. They usually allow three to five days for submission updates depending on the activity level in their submissions.
I hope you will make the most of this extraordinary seller of your title by sending me your editorial reviews. This is just another service we offer you as your distribution vendor into Amazon.
