Beckon Books will develop books for national and international corporations and organizations. These books will help companies fulfill vital marketing, communications and relationship needs.
Led by President Chris Capen, Beckon will develop books for marketing campaigns, landmark anniversary celebrations, customer and employee relations, internal motivation campaigns, corporate responsibility education, brand enhancement, public education, fundraising, and sponsorship activation, or whatever an organization’s needs may be.
“I’m thrilled to be a part of the FRP team,” says Capen. “I have a great deal of respect and admiration for the outstanding work FRP has done for over 45 years developing custom books for all types of organizations.”
“Beckon’s mission is to publish books that create emotional connections between our customers’ organizations and their employees and customers. In doing so, we will develop and deliver editorial content that is so appealing and engaging to its target audience, that it enhances readers’ impressions, understanding, feelings, or behavior toward the organization.”
Capen has almost 20 years in the custom book publishing field. He has published custom books for a variety of organizations, including the Ford Motor Company, General Mills, Carnival Cruise Lines, Amgen Pharmaceuticals, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, NASCAR, the PGA TOUR, the Discovery Channel, the History Channel, and a range of professional sports teams.
“We are excited to announce Beckon Books. It’s a step towards the long-term goal for FRP to be the preferred custom book publishing company in the nation, regardless of the genre,” says FRP president Dave Kempf. “This helps us leverage our core competency to produce custom books to meet our clients’ needs.”
Since 1961, FRP has produced thousands of titles for individuals, companies, and nonprofit organizations across the country. FRP offers customized consultation in the creation, production, marketing, and distribution of imprints such as Favorite Recipes Press and Community Classics and The Booksmith Group. FRP is a division of Southwestern/Great American, Inc.
Southwestern/Great American Inc. was established in 1855 as the Southwestern Publishing House. It developed a new concept that engaged young Southern men to sell publications door-to-door. Today, four companies (and several divisions) comprise Southwestern/Great American, Inc. More than 300 of the Company’s 600-plus full-time employees and associates got their start selling books in the Southwestern Program.
