The Junior League of Dallas’s new cookbook is sure to please home gourmets, with more than 250 wide-ranging recipes beautifully presented in a large-format suitable for coffee table browsing. The recipes included in Dallas Dish were contributed by Junior League members, their relatives, friends, and famous chefs from the Dallas area. Some are updated adaptations of old favorites. Others are less traditional. Recipes also include variations on basic dishes to help each cook create personal special dishes.

Recipes include a contribution from Stephen Pyles, the first Texan to be inducted to Who’s Who of Food & Wine in America. In keeping with the innovative Texas cuisine for which he is known, his Cranberry Pudding Tamales with Tequila Orange Curd recipe shines among the already-outstanding dessert recipes. Famous for seafood served with Italian sizzle in his artsy Deep Ellum neighborhood, chef Salvatore Gisellu brings Sardinian style to Texas with his contribution of Baked Lobster with Crab Meat Stuffing. And of course, The Mansion on Turtle Creek donated their Deep-in-the-Heart-of-Texas Backyard Barbecue Chicken recipe to the collection. Though this is a cookbook that hardly needs the presence of celebrity chefs to make it a standout, there are many more, as well as hundreds of recipes contributed by the League members with variety to suit comfort cooks to home gourmets.

Proceeds from the sale of Dallas Dish will allow the League to continue to fund important community projects. Project focus areas are Arts and Cultural Enrichment, Education, Family Preservation, Health, Poverty Intervention, and Violence Intervention. Additional outreach committees are the Community Assistance Fund, Community Outreach, and Provisional projects.
