A League of Our Own – From Blue Jeans to Ball Gowns is the first book from the Rockwall Women’s League. Whenever two or more women gather, something is always cooking. It may be volunteering on one of the organization’s more than thirty service projects or hosting guests at the annual formal charity ball. Whether in ball gowns, blue jeans or something in between, with this new book home cooks are well-prepared to welcome guests and nourish families.
A League of Our Own includes hundreds of recipes for dishes ranging from classic comfort food, like Sweet Potato Biscuits, to the decadent elegance of Crab Newburg. There are spirited appetizers, such as Shrimp Ceviche; sumptuous soups and stews like the velvety Brie Soup; entrancing entrees with Wasabi Brisket among them; and much more.
The Rockwall Women’s League was founded in 1973 as this small community twenty-two miles east of downtown Dallas began to grow on the shores of Lake Hubbard. The club was chartered with fifty members and now includes eighty active members, seventy-six associate members, and six founding members with honorary status. The sale of their cookbook will fund numerous community projects including the Rockwall Alliance for the Arts, Beautiful Rockwall, the Rockwall Independent School District, and more. Years of popular requests for recipes of the delicious menus served at monthly meetings and special events encouraged the League to offer these personal recipes selected to put every home cook in a league of her own!
A League of Our Own – From Blue Jeans to Ball Gowns was manufactured by FRP in Nashville, Tennessee as part of the Community Classics® imprint. Since 1961, FRP has produced more than 800 titles for individuals, companies, and nonprofit organizations from coast to coast. Full support and consultation are available in the creation, production, marketing, and distribution of a cookbook. FRP is a division of Southwestern/Great American, Inc.
