The Tennessee Chapter of the BellSouth TeleCom Pioneers has recently published their fifth cookbook. Dining with Pioneers Volume Three includes hundreds of recipes from volunteer-members throughout the state and is expected to break sales records within the group’s highly successful cookbook publishing program.
Dining with Pioneers Volume Three follows four previous books published by the Tennessee chapter of TeleCom Pioneers. The first volume in the series was first published in 1981 and has since gone through nineteen printings with more than a half-million copies in print. Published in 1986, volume two is currently out of print but sold more than 80 thousand copies in eight printings. A children’s cookbook, Just Kidding Around, was published in 1991 and is available in limited quantities as is Answering the Call of those in Need, a master collection of recipes with bonus information on healthy eating choices. TeleCom Pioneers is the largest industry-related volunteer organization in the world, with chapters located in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Founded in 1911, TeleCom Pioneers, formerly known as Telephone Pioneers of America, is comprised of nearly 620,000 current and retired telecommunications employees. The Tennessee Chapter has operated for more than 75 years.
Proceeds from the sale of Dining with Pioneers Volume Three, as well as all of the organization’s cookbooks, benefit three ongoing community projects. Quality in the Classroom works to provide expertise, ongoing support, and professional growth opportunities to enhance the skills of new teachers. Project: Connect provides educators and key youth program leaders with innovative tools to assume a leadership role in implementing technology-related projects in the classroom. It Just Adds Up provides calculators to Tennessee school districts for student use. Other projects include a disaster relief fund and a health information program for BellSouth employees and retirees.
