INSIDE THE NOT SO HALLOWED HALLS . . .
July 1, 2005

Thirty years in the school system gives an educator a lot of stories. Now a school superintendent, Dewitt Jones has collected his true tales, including some hilarious notes from parents, in a new book sure to delight and touch educators and school administrators everywhere. Inside the Not So Hallowed Halls gives a unique perspective on education, and includes actual calls and notes from parents – you won’t believe what parents will say and write!

Since we have all had school experiences, these stories may resurrect a memory or emotion from a long forgotten time. Each story takes the reader into typical school situations—important tests, missed classes, fire drills, and more—to invite the reader to remember their own school friends, teachers, principals, or colleagues.

Dewitt Jones began collecting notes and anecdotes in his daily planner during his first assignment as principal in the fall of 1973. He has since served as a classroom teacher, middle and high school principal, and superintendent of schools in three school systems in two states. Author Dewitt Jones is a Des Moines native who makes his home in Waterloo, Iowa. He is currently the superintendent of the Waterloo County schools.
