Take a magnificent mountain valley, add the high blue skies, warm days, and cool nights; and mix in the pioneering spirit and a zest for life. The result is the inspiration for and the creation of Strings in the Mountains Music Festival held annually in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
The Guild of Strings in the Mountains Music Festival began in 1990 to act as an integrating group between the festival and the community. Throughout the years, the Guild has held many fund-raising events involving food, so it seemed a natural progression to create this new cookbook, Steamboat Seasons: A Medley of Recipes.
With recipes from musicians, conductors, local chefs and volunteers, Steamboat Seasons captures the flavor of this mountain town, peppered with color photographs and artwork from the Rocky Mountains; simmered with unique recipes across a variety of cooking methods and including diverse ingredients; and finished with notes on the festival and its personnel, cooking tips, and additional information on ingredients. Seasonal recipes from celebrated local chefs, musicians, and Steamboat Springs residents make this large-format cookbook a treasure, appealing to the novice cook as well as the expert.
