COMMON SENSE COOKING with WILDTREE HERBS
May 24, 2005

When working mother Leslie Monte’s two young children were diagnosed with medical conditions that required special diets, she faced a challenge: creating quick, healthy meals that met their special nutritional requirements. She was most concerned about eliminating artificial preservatives, flavorings, and other food additives. After her own and her parents’ experimentation with new ways to prepare and flavor foods, “We discovered how to make mealtimes enjoyable and effortless, dietary restrictions or not,” says Ms. Monte.

Ms. Monte had discovered the power of fresh herb and spice combinations, and was soon offering her specialty blends at craft fairs. It was not long after developing a loyal following that Wildtree Herbs, Inc. was formed to offer a wide variety of spice blends at home parties.

Now, Common Sense Cooking: The Wildtree Cookbook Collection gives home cooks fifty-one quick, easy, and delicious recipes using the company’s spice blends to give the flavor families love without chemical additives. Recipes cover diverse national and international flavors. Home cooks can easily add Asian flair with Wildtree Asian Sauce with Shrimp and Pasta. Bring down-home flavor to ribs with the baby Back Ribs with Wildtree Memphis Barbecue Rub, or venture south of the border with the zingy Fajita Seasoning Blend. Common Sense Cooking is more than entrees, of course. The “sugar & spice” blends include several cheesecake blends for creating quick sweets, like the Cream Cheese Squares; the Rich Dark Chocolate Fudge Sauce adds a sinfully delicious topping to brownie sundaes.

The creative possibilities are endless with Wildtree Herbs’ more than one hundred products. Common Sense Cooking is an excellent first cookbook, and a great way for “seasoned” cooks to bring in new flavors sure to please the entire family.
