FRP (Favorite Recipes® Press), is pleased to announce the release of The Bermuda Junior Service League’s (BJSL) new cookbook Island Thyme: Tastes and Tradition of Bermuda. Just under two years in the making, Island Thyme is the culmination of hours of fun, brainstorming, eating and photo shoots by members of BJSL. Island Thyme provides useful recipes and a further appreciation of the tastes and traditions of the island of Bermuda through stunning four-color food and location photography. Recipes include Chicken Satay with Peanut Dipping Sauce (p. 63), Eggnog Bread (p. 101), Mixed Seafood Chowder (p. 128) and Millionaire’s Shortbread (p. 237).
Island Thyme offers classic menus for Bermudian holidays and other island celebrations. Active and life BJSL members submitted recipes for the “Tastes of Bermuda” chapter. Special contributors to the book included local celebrity chef Joe Gibbons, Danika Pereira – Executive Chef to His Excellency the Governor, and Bank of Bermuda Executive Chef, Franz Wolmuth. Ten of Bermuda’s premier restaurants contributed recipes for the “Night Out in Bermuda” chapter. Island Thyme is BJSL’s second cookbook. Their first cookbook, Bermudian Cookery celebrates is thirty years old and has sold over a quarter of a million copies. The 12th edition of Bermudian Cookery was re-printed in June 2003.
Sales of Island Thyme will be used to aid current and new Bermuda Junior Service League community service projects, annual financial donations to local organizations and individuals, and partial funds will be put aside to enable the future re-print of Island Thyme.
