This marks the tenth consecutive year that FRP clients have been recognized. The McIlhenny Tabasco Cookbook Awards were established in 1990 to recognize the role cookbooks play in chronicling and preserving local culinary traditions.
National Second Place Winner is Provisions & Politics, published by the James K. Polk Memorial Association in Columbia, Tennessee. The Southwest Regional Winner is MariThyme Treasures published by the Texas Maritime Museum in Rockport, Texas. MariThyme Treasures contains recipes from former First Ladies Barbara Bush and Lady Bird Johnson, along with recipes from several popular area restaurants. The South Regional Winner is Celebrate Highlands, published by the Laurel Garden Club in Highlands, North Carolina. Proceeds from the sale of Savor Santa Barbara will help the Assistance League of Santa Barbara fund community projects. The Kansas City Barbeque Cookbook published by the Kansas City Barbeque Society in Kansas City, Missouri has been inducted into the Walter S. McIlhenny Hall of Fame. This popular cookbook, filled with “what’s hot in Barbeque”, was a second place winner of the National Tabasco Community Cookbook Award in 1996.
