Germantown United Methodist Women Invite You to the Table with New Cookbook

Almost every event in the life of church-goers is enriched by the sharing of food. Those events produce a wealth of recipes and thus Be Present at Our Table from the Germantown United Methodist Women was born. With over 260 recipes from church members, Be Present at Our Table is a collection surely to be passed along from family and friends, generation to generation.

Be Present at Our Table celebrates eating together and sitting at the table, sharing food, talking and listening to each other, which all contribute to stronger ties with family and friends. Eight chapters contain everything from entrees to soups to pasta dishes. Potluck friendly foods include Pineapple Zucchini Bread (p. 58), Tarragon Chicken Salad (p. 150) and Sour Cream Cashew Drops (p. 211). Also included are comfort foods like Chicken Potpie (p. 110), Corn and Cheddar Chowder (p. 174) and Sweet Potato Pie (p. 218).

Chapter openers contain beautiful artwork from regional artists. Various table graces and blessings from many eras and cultures around the world are sprinkled throughout the book to start mealtime out with proper thanksgiving and celebration. Since 1902, the Germantown United Methodist Women have worked to build a supportive community among women; to advocate for the oppressed and dispossessed; and to engage in the activities that foster growth in the Christian faith, mission education and Christian social involvement. All the profits from the sale of Be Present at Our Table will go directly to mission projects such as the Church Women United, FirstWorks and The Neighborhood School.
