Junior League of Wichita Falls Celebrates 50 Years of Service with New Cookbook
November 19, 2007

In celebration of 50 years of service to the community, the Junior League of Wichita Falls has just released a new cookbook entitled Now Serving. This collection of new recipes is peppered with classics from the League’s earlier cookbooks (Discoveries in Dining from 1960 and Home Cookin’ from 1976.) Now Serving is a delicious balance of dishes for family dining and food for elegant entertaining.

Some of the best recipes that North Texas has to offer include Red River Tortilla Soup (p. 53), Brie-Stuffed Chicken Breasts (p. 89), Spicy Monterey Rice (p. 120), and Pumpkin Praline Pie with Chocolate Kahlua Sauce (p. 143). Now Serving also includes a section entitled “International Flair” featuring some delectable delights from the kitchens of the NATO program at Sheppard Air Force Base. In this section are recipes for German Sauerkraut Goulash (p. 170), Greek Honey Puffs (p. 172) and Italian Hazelnut Biscotti (p.176).

Colorful artwork dances across the pages of this new cookbook and was provided by well-known regional artist Pamela A. Moller. Now Serving is available through the Junior League of Wichita Falls at www.jlwf.org or through The Cookbook Marketplace, www.cookbookmarketplace.com. The Junior League of Wichita Falls is a diverse and dynamic group of talented women who share a common desire to improve the quality of life in Wichita Falls. Members contribute over 17,000 volunteer hours and over $300,000 annually in training and project funding to the Wichita Falls community. Proceeds from Now Serving will support the League’s mission of volunteerism, community improvement and leadership development.
