A Touch of Home - A Collection of Recipes from the Friends of The Samaritan Inn is a new collection of classic recipes from volunteers, previous donors, and staff (aka the Friends of the Samaritan Inn). This is the first cookbook for the not-for-profit group and is filled with over 200 recipes to create simple dishes that are both memorable and delicious. The cookbook will be unveiled at the annual Samaritan Inn Gala on Oct 26, 2007.
Creative appetizers such as Asian Lettuce Wraps (p. 28) or Artichoke Hummus (p. 45) will be sure to impress the guests at any party. Delicious main entrees include Chicken Fajita Pasta with Chipotle Alfredo (p. 137) and Rosemary-Roasted Salmon (p. 150). The generous selection of desserts includes Cinnamon Brownie Cake (p. 182) and Black Cherry Marzipan Bars (p. 191). The book also includes a selection of recipes for brunch offers, breads, soups and side dishes.
Cookbooks are available from The Samaritan Inn on site at 1710 North McDonald Street, McKinney, TX or at their website, www.thesamaritaninn.org. All proceeds from A Touch of Home will support The Samaritan Inn, a comprehensive, not-for-profit program for the homeless that provides refuge, counseling, vocational training, and life-skill classes—all designed to support people in their quest to regain their independence.
The Samaritan Inn was established in 1984 after community leaders joined together to address the issue of homelessness in Collin County. Twenty three years later, The Samaritan Inn is still the only homeless shelter in a county of over 700,000 residents.
All services are provided free of charge through funding made from donations by churches, service organizations, corporations, and individuals. The Samaritan Inn is also a member of the United Way of Collin County. For information about The Samaritan Inn, please contact Lynne Sipiora at email@example.com or (972) 542-5302.
