Cookbook University 2007 in Nashville, TN

The nation’s top custom cookbook publisher has opened registration for its highly regarded educational conference, Cookbook University. Since 1993, Cookbook University has educated new publishers on cookbook development, marketing, and distribution. The conference will this year be held Nashville, TN September 5 & 6, 2007 at the Hilton Downtown. This event is open to the public with advance registration and is provided for a fee.

A new feature of this year’s Cookbook University are three Master-Level classes for greater detail on major areas vital to successful publishing: “Cookbook Development 201: From Headnotes to Footnotes and Everything in Between: How to Make a Great Cookbook, Editorially Speaking;” “Cookbook Marketing 201: Building A Roadmap for Success;” and “Publicity 201: Developing Media Relationships for Maximum Impact.”

General educational sessions follow two tracks: The School of Cookbook Development and The School of Cookbook Marketing. Development sessions cover the selection of a theme, title selection, recipe collection, and an overview of the editorial and design processes. The School of Cookbook Marketing explores basic principles of marketing as related to cookbook publishing. Students then choose four of the twelve breakout sessions on: working with FRP; publicity; retail sales/special events; budgets, plans and goal-setting; an overview of running a cookbook-based business; separate sessions on distribution, working with wholesalers, advance sales, and nontraditional book sales; sponsorships and underwriting; awards and promotional materials; forming and working with committees.

All sessions are taught by FRP’s team of cookbook professionals, who together possess more than 200 years’ experience creating award-winning and best-selling cookbooks.
